Hold a referendum on removing the London Assembly and London Mayor - Final Signatures: 71,554

We believe too much power is in the hands of the London Assembly and London Mayor. We are particularly concerned about the impact of expanding the ULEZ on people who are struggling with a cost of living crisis to put food on the tables, keep kids clothed and fed while struggling to heat homes.

The Government responsed to this petition on 21st March 2023 (View Full Response)
The Government has no current plans to hold a referendum on the role or functions of the Mayor of London or London Assembly; devolved transport policies are best determined locally.

(Estimated Final Signatures: 46,825 - 146 added in the past 24hrs)

We call on the Government to extend free bus travel to all people over 60 years old in England outside London. We believe the current situation is unjust and we want equality for everyone over 60.

Government has no plans to amend the GLA Act. While DfT is aware of concerns about schemes which charge road users in the capital, transport in London is devolved and decisions lie with the Mayor.

There should be equal Voting ID requirements across all age groups. - Final Signatures: 4,617

We want to increase the acceptable forms of Voting ID for those under the age of 25, so that there is parity among different age groups. For example, a Freedom Pass is an acceptable form of ID, whereas a Young Person's Bus Pass is not. We want Young Person's Bus Passes to be accepted as ID.

Do not extend the period before a vehicle’s first MOT to 4 years - Final Signatures: 11,710

The Government has proposed extending the period before a vehicle has to have its first MOT from 3 years to 4. We believe this will be dangerous, expensive, damaging and unnecessary. 1,759 casualties were caused by vehicle defects in 2021. Keep our roads safe by keeping the MOT at 3-1-1.

The Government responsed to this petition on 16th May 2023 (View Full Response)
The Government consultation on MOT reform closed on 22nd March 2023. We are currently analysing the results and will release a decision in the near future.

I want to ask the UK parliament and government to temporarily allow UA refugees to use their cars for the same duration as the "Homes for Ukrainians" scheme.

The Government responsed to this petition on 27th June 2023 (View Full Response)
We recognize the deep upset caused by losing a pet, but a legal obligation to report road traffic incidents involving cats would be very challenging to enforce. We have no plans to change the law.

Transfer responsibility for Southeastern metro services to Transport for London - Final Signatures: 5,901

Southeastern routes are often more expensive than TfL's, yet are a worse service. Southeastern's December 2022 timetable lumbered us with infrequent and unreliable services, disrupting lives and businesses. It is time to devolve SE London's services to TfL, which has a proven record in local rail.
