I think public trust in MPs and the Parliamentary process could be strengthened if MPs were seen to be undertaking their duties according to a minimum set of standards: that is, by attending the House of Commons and holding constituency surgeries on a regular basis as a formal requirement of the role. Such measures should also prohibit MPs from attending celebrity shows and overseas trips that are not related to Parliamentary business on days the House is sitting.
