Asylum: Temporary Accommodation
Asked by: Paul Bristow (Conservative - Peterborough) Tuesday 4th April 2023 Question to the Home Office: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, if she will publish a timetable for the cessation of the use of the Great Northern Hotel in Peterborough as asylum accommodation. Answered by Robert Jenrick - Shadow Secretary of State for Justice Due to the continued pressures on the Asylum Estate, we are needing to use emergency accommodation hotels for a longer period that originally envisaged, and this has resulted in the conversion of this hotel to lo0nger term contingency accommodation. There is no plan to decant this site and by using this site as longer-term contingency accommodation, there should be more of a settled residency staying in the hotel until they are dispersed into longer term accommodation. Service users will be supported to registered with health services, access school places, engagement with other local services such as ESOL, engage NGOs for more long terms support (over and above that provided by Migrant Help), accessing local faith groups. |

3 Apr 2023, 6:25 p.m. ⭐️ CLEANING UP OUR CITY CENTRE I have written to the Police asking them how they will use their new anti-social behaviour powers. We need more enforcement against street drinking and aggressive begging. The new plan should remove any operational reason not to enforce the law ? https://t.co/isf8mPQqc2 Link to Original Tweet |

2 Apr 2023, 12:43 p.m. The only way to save lives in the English Channel, and defeat evil people smugglers, is to stop the boats. Yet Labour have opposed measures to stop small boats and secure our borders every step of the way. Despite Labour, we have voted on a new law to do just this. https://t.co/rq7CJaPWoA Link to Original Tweet |
